Painting and weathering the Antar

The normal service colour for the Antar was a deep Bronze green. However, to be different I chose to do mine in NATO green and Black bands as some of them were painted.

After a primer coat of Tamiya Xf-19 Grey, I sprayed the camo on freehand. Again I used Tamiya paint….

XF-67 NATO Green   and XF-69 NATO black.

The paint was thinned with Tamiya XF-20A thinners, 60% thinner to 40% paint.

I used my H&S Infinity airbrush with a 0.2mm needle.

This is how the Antar looks with the camo and wash on…..

The wash I used to bring out the detail was AK interactive Wash for NATO camo.

I started by applying the wash over the detail that  wanted to pick out…..

I then used Artists white spirit to remove excess wash and also it helped to move the wash around the raised details.

When you do this, make sure the whole area gets a light cover of white spirit to avoid tide marks.

The wheels were painted next, Tamiya XF-67 Nato green was used for the wheel hub and I used Tamiya XF-85 Rubber black for the tyres. The hweel nuts were painted red using Vallejo Model color paint. finally a wash of AK NATO camo was applied.

Next I took some heavily diluted Tamiya Buff and lightly sprayed the tyres to give them a dusty look. More weathering will be applied later on.
